Lapis Lazuli squares

These are a really wearable classic pair of cufflinks. Superbly crafted in solid hallmarked sterling silver and set with natural Lapis Lazuli which is an intense deep blue colour.  Lapis is one of the earliest gemstones ever to have been used by man and is commonly found in excavations of settlements from the early Mediterranian civilisations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. It also holds a magical position in the history of art as the old masters would grind Lapis to make the colour they called 'ultramarine'. 'Lapis' is the Latin word for stone and 'Azula' comes from Arabic and means blue.
